Notes Data was collected at : AIS Indoor Track (-35.247339, 149.104038), Canberra.
There are two copies of this dataset, one is stored on the local drive of the collection machine, the other on a dedicated network drive. The local capture computer is attached to the force plates and cameras which are located in the indoor athletics track at the AIS [Canberra]. The network drives are located on site.
All files collected using this system are labelled with a time date stamp such as 2012.09.18_13-26-37 and contained in a folder with the same time date stamp. Video footage from all cameras in software specific format (.vframes), force plate data is stored in a csv containing raw ADC output (_adSamples.csv), meta data about the trial and system settings are stored in software specific text files (.fprops, .trial, .vprops, _origDeviceSetup.ini).
This data uses "Track" a custom made software capture and playback system built principally by software developer at the AIS (Michael Williamson).
Access : restricted to Movement Science staff and restricted performance support staff.
Data most recently updated September 2017 (at time this catalogue record was created). It is updated weekly.
Data sensitivities : dataset includes sensitive performance and medical data with personal identification.
Australian Institute of Sport and sporting organisations pay for the collection of this data.
This dataset contains 2868 individual trials.
For further information about this data set, please contact : AIS Movement Science, Australian Institute of Sport.
Summary This system collects synchronised calibrated video footage at 100 frames per second from 10 side on and 1 front/rear camera as well as three dimensional force data from 8 force plate. The capture process involves the athlete walking or running past the cameras in the lane with the forceplates. Once the athlete has completed the run a tracking algorithum is used to track the athlete and centre the footage. The reported parameters include the video footage of the athlete and key kinetic parameters from the force plate data. This dataset contains subsets of data which focus on specific groups of athletes or research themes.
This data seeks to capture the kinetics of the athlete while walking, running, sprinting. This data can then be used as a base line to compare future performances too. Video reference data is collected to add context to kinetic parameters. From a performance perspective this could be the coach working on changes to technique. From an injury perspective this could be quantifying load changes during the return to play from injury.
Target audience note Target audience for this information is coaches, biomechanists, doctors, physiotherapists, skill acquisition specialists, strength and conditioning coaches.
