Summary Synopsis : La Trobe University have made a 70 million investment into a Sports Park that includes an eight-court indoor multisport stadium for netball and basketball, as well as S&C facility, teaching and research area, synthetic hockey pitch and soccer pitches. Strategically, La Trobe is looking to position itself as one of Australia’s foremost higher education providers with aspiration to be the nation’s preferred university for tertiary sport studies, sport research, sport performance and participation, as well as industry collaboration for innovation in sport. In this presentation, Professor Hoye details La Trobe’s Sports Park, and makes some observations about the added value Universities like La Trobe can provide the sports sector, both in participation and high performance.
