Presenter |
Presenter : Dr. Susan White is a Specialist Sports and Exercise Physician who has been practicing at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne for over 20 years. She has been a member of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee (ASDMAC) since its inception in 1999. She is also on a number of international committees including the WADA TUE-EG (WADA Therapeutic Use Expert Group) and FINA’s DCRB (Doping control review board) and the International Golf (IGU)TUE committee. In the area of anti-doping she also sits on many tribunals to consider anti-doping violations, some of these include the AFL and Cricket Australia. Susan has been the Chief Medical Officer for Swimming Australia since 2007, she was Deputy Medical Director for the Australian Olympic Team in London 2012 and has attended numerous Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Paralympics and World championships in previous roles with Netball Australia, Rowing and The Australian Paralympic team. She is also on the Editorial Board of the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine. |
Summary |
SDA and the AIS have assembled a line-up of some of the most experienced and well respected sporting professionals to have a frank and thought provoking discussion about the use of dietary supplements by athletes. Presenters will discuss the risks, rewards and alternatives that may not have been critically debated previously, focusing on the consequences not commonly considered, and the alternatives to current practices both from the delivery of dietary supplement programs, and the role each professional should play in the solution. |
