Summary It was a great day (Amy Winters, Australia, August 26, 1995). Athletes from 4 countries break 6 world records! 3,000 enthusiastic visitors to "Auf der Klappe", Duderstadt's newly renovated sports facility, were treated to performances of a lifetime by athletes competing in the Paralympics Revival '95. 84 top athletes from 23 countries and 5 continents elevated this invitational event to new heights. For the first time, a female below knee amputee broke the 15 second barrier in the 100m sprint. A male, below knee amputee threw the discus over 50m. And, for the first time outside fothe World Championhship competitions, athletes representing China participated in the Revival. Competitions were easier to understand with the reduced number of handicap classes. Focus was on the competition, not the medals. (From back cover).
