Notes 1946-1957 Forbes Carlile video made from 8mm film and part of his collection of 6 or more similar tapes and his summary of these tapes. – Good tape in parts for history of swimming in NSW and old Olympic footage. -- Starts in 1947 at Palm Beach Surf Club and the rock pool used for swimming training. Newport Beach and NSW training squad – shows a number of state & Olympic champions training. -- 1948 – Aust Swimming Forum in Sydney – shows a number of older champions swimming – John Marshall, Freddie Lane, H Hardwick, B Longworth etc --- 1954 – Aust Swimming Forum – Moss Christie, Frank O’Neil, Lorraine Crapp--Good footage of Aust Swim Team training before Melbourne Olympics & during Olympics – Women’s 100m freestyle – Dawn Fraser, Lorraine Crapp, Men’s butterfly, Men’s Backstroke -- 1952 – Hawaii stopover to America then Forbes “home” video of WestPoint plus footage of Forbes at Finland for modern pentathlon – Helsinki swimming footage – Drummoyne Sydney Swimming Pool training footage – David Tyler backstroke turns --1957 National Championships at Canberra show Don Talbot + a bit of Canberra as it was in 1957 + early footage of Sydney harbour--Forbes as House Master at Shores Private Boys School – more “home movies” -- 1948 Olympic Swimming footage – poor to only fair quality. Plane trip to England (a 4 day trip ) and general “home movie footage”.
